WHAT DRIVES US
-
OUR MISSION
Dedicated to serving New Yorkers experiencing homelessness, hunger, and poverty, Broadway Community sets an abundant table, believing that everyone deserves justice, dignity, health, and wholeness.
We empower one another with nourishing food, a welcoming environment, shelter, medical care, life skills practice, and faithful accompaniment through challenging times.
We serve one another - breaking down barriers of poverty, inequity, and privilege - until all are fed, in body and spirit.
We serve.

OUR VISION
We envision a society where everyone has the resources they need to thrive —where no one goes without food, shelter, healthcare, or community, and where people treat one another with dignity, kindness, and care.
We dream of a city and country where compassion is embedded in every system, and where no one is left to navigate hardship alone. Until that day comes, we will continue to meet urgent needs while working toward a more just and loving future.
We believe that the Broadway Community model — holistic, human-centered, and rooted in love — should not be the exception. We envision one-stop-shop centers of care and connection in every neighborhood across New York City, offering healing, hope, and help to all who need it.

OUR CORE BELIEFS
1. Everyone deserves dignity, justice, and love — regardless of their circumstances. Whether someone is experiencing homelessness, hunger, or deep personal crisis, they are worthy of compassion, respect, and care.
2. Access to food, shelter, and care is a human right — not a privilege. No one should have to beg for a hot meal, a safe place to rest, or access to basic medical care. We believe that society is only as strong as its most vulnerable members
3. Community is both the means and the end. We believe healing happens in relationship. Shared meals, mutual care, and being truly seen by others are not just part of the process — they are the goal.
4. Change happens through presence, not charity. Real transformation begins when we accompany one another through life’s hardest moments with consistency, humility, and love. It’s not about giving from above—it’s about walking alongside, shoulder to shoulder.
5. No one is beyond hope, and no one should be counted out. We’ve seen it too many times to believe otherwise: people can heal, grow, and begin again — no matter how long they’ve struggled or how many systems have failed them.
