LIFE SKILLS EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM (LSEP)

Broadway Community and the Interfaith Assembly on Homelessness and Housing (IAHH) are proud to offer a fifteen week, thirty session program called Panim el Panim (which means "Face to Face" in Hebrew) developed for people who have current or recent experiences with homelessness.

Based on the Life Skills Empowerment Program (LSEP) developed jointly by the Interfaith Assembly on Homelessness and Housing (IAHH) and Catholic Charities of New York, Panim el Panim helps individuals develop essential life skills and aids in the process of recovery from the trauma of homelessness through sharing life stories and establishing a supportive community.

Throughout the program, each participant works one-on-one with a volunteer partner to set and achieve short and long term goals.

Core Program Elements

  1. Life skills sessions with guest speakers: Speakers offer presentations on important topics. These include: self-image, goal setting, developing a support system, healthy relationships, time and money management, and more.

  2. Goal setting with partners: Each participant works one-on-one with a volunteer partner to set and achieve short and long term goals.

  3. Personal stories: The LSEP guides participants in sharing their life experiences. Toward the end of the program, participants are asked to share their stories at a public speaking event.

  4. Individual case management: With an MSW student intern.
