    OUR MISSION

Broadway Community sets an abundant table, believing that everyone deserves justice, dignity, health, and wholeness.

We empower one another with nourishing food, a welcoming environment, shelter, medical care, life skills practice, and faithful accompaniment through challenging times.

We serve one another - breaking down barriers of poverty, inequity, and privilege - until all are fed, in body and spirit.

    We serve.

    OUR HISTORY

Founded in 1982 by volunteers from Broadway Presbyterian Church, Union Theological Seminary, and Columbia University, what is now known as Broadway Community has grown from providing meals three days a week to providing a broad range of programs serving New Yorkers experiencing homelessness, hunger, and poverty.

For more than 40 years — through times of calm and times of turbulence, times of prosperity and times of recession, times of progress and times of setbacks — we have been there for each other and lived on our belief that to “love thy neighbor” is not a choice, but an obligation.

    OUR PROGRAMS

Working tirelessly to break down the barriers of poverty, inequity, and privilege – until all are fed, in body and spirit – Broadway Community provides countless opportunities to bring neighbors together across socioeconomic and cultural boundaries.

Our entire community is dedicated to creating an environment where all feel welcome and valued.

Here, you can find a broad range of resources including a soup kitchen, food pantry, shelter, on-site medical services, a computer lab, employment assistance, benefits enrollment, a life skills program, and more.
